The fun of the hunt is really searching for those eggs no matter where they might be. If it’s nice weather where you live in April expand the hunt to both indoors and outdoors to add some extra dimension to your hunt. Try hiding eggs in unexpected places like inside cabinets, underneath couches and on top of lamps.
It’s always fun to get candy in Easter eggs, but it’s also exciting to discover something else in your egg. Try adding something fun like quarters or a dollar bill, small toys or even little trinkets like hair ties or toy cars. It’s no fun when the eggs are too close together and the hunt is no challenge at all. Be sure to spread the eggs out evenly, also so that each child has a better chance of getting an equal number of eggs.
It’s always fun to have one “golden” egg with something awesome inside like a $5 bill or a coupon for an ice cream outing! Hide this egg in a more difficult location than the others, or leave clues around the hunt for where the “golden egg” is located. This adds another fun dimension to your hunt!
Find out what your children’s favorite candies are and fill them accordingly. Jelly beans are a fun classic, but it’s always exciting to find something familiar and delicious in the eggs.
Another fun idea is to have the Easter baskets hidden and in each egg is a clue to where the baskets are located. Fill the Easter baskets with fun treats like movies, candy, plastic grass, socks and trinkets!
