Being a young, single adult means that I’m basically an expert on eating appetizers or snacks for dinner. I personally am not much of a cook (I CAN cook, I just chose not too), and I don’t like to make a full meal if I’m just serving myself. I do realize, though, that it is important to make sure that when having one of these “appetizer-only dinner” nights, the foods should contain enough nutrients so that you will feel full and satisfied when finished. That being said, here are some quick, easy ideas for when making an appetizer only dinner.

Hummus is great as either a snack or an appetizer because it has healthy fats and some protein. According to this source, hummus is high in fiber which slows down digestion and prevents blood sugar levels from rising too quickly. The same website tells us that chickpeas, the main ingredient in hummus, contain iron and manganese which keep energy levels up and our blood healthy.
Hummus can easily be made at home with a food processor, or bought at the store. Adding fresh cut-up veggies and/or naan (which can also be store-bought) makes a great duo.Host An Appetizer Only Dinner Party Your Guests Will Love Click To Tweet
Similar to hummus, guacamole is a great dip! While usually paired with tortilla chips, guacamole also tastes great with vegetables. Guacamole is a great appetizer choice (especially when homemade), because avocados are so nutritious. This source tells us that one serving of an avocado has Vitamins K, C, E, B5, and B6, Folate, and Potassium. The same source reveals that avocados are full of healthy fats & fiber.
Simply mash two ripe avocados, adding a little bit of sea salt and lemon juice, and you’re ready to go! (You could even add pomegranate seeds for a yummy twist!)
Caprese Salad is bound to be a favorite. It’s fresh, delicious, and so easy to make. The salad combines ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil leaves, balsamic vinegar, olive oil (for drizzling), and just a pinch of salt and pepper.
Tomatoes are great because as this source tells us, they contain beneficial phytochemicals like lycopene, which help prevent chronic disease. Mozzarella is delicious and adds protein and fat. AND, scientific studies have shown that basil is anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant, fights cancer, is a pain and fever-reducer, prevents diabetes, protects your liver and your blood vessels, is an anti-stress solution, and an immune-booster. This app is a winner in both taste and nutrition!
